Herpes Simplex Virus I/II (HSV I/HSV II)
Herpes is a common virus that causes sores around the mouth or genitals. There are two types: HSV-1 (usually cold sores) and HSV-2 (typically genital herpes). It’s super common and manageable. While there’s no cure, meds can help with symptoms and make it less likely to spread. Getting tested and knowing your status is key.
Cintex Community Health offers Screening for HSV 1/HSV 2. If you are experiencing symptoms, we do offer treatment.
What are common symptoms you may experience?
- Blisters around the mouth, genitals, or rectum
- Blisters that might give a sensation of burning, tingling, or numbing around the affected area
- Flu-like symptoms or at times, there are no symptoms at all
- These sores often start as small, fluid-filled bumps that eventually burst, ooze, and then crust over.
